Canada Day in the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood

5th Annual Canada Day Celebration
Wednesday July 1st, 2009

Due to the labour dispruption, please note the location change from St James Park to Market Lane Park, between Front and King Streets and beside the North Market.

Parade starts at 11:30 at The Esplanade and Sherbourne
12pm- Arrival at Market Lane Park- Festivities, BBQ, Music, Children’s activities and birthday cake (and balloons).

The parade will be cancelled if the weather is poor, and the celebration will begin at 12 noon in the St. Lawrence North Market building.

Cancelled Canada Day Events

The City of Toronto announced that all City-run Canada Day events and those that had permits to take place on City property are cancelled. If the strike ends by the end of the weekend (Sunday, June 28), some of these events may be able to go ahead, on a modified basis.

The cancelled events include:
●   Amesbury Canada Day, Amesbury Park
●   Ashbridges Bay Fireworks
●   Canada Day Event, Earlscourt Park
●   Somali-Canada Day, Earl Bales Park
●   Ontario Australian Football Championships, Colonel Samuel Smith Park
●   Peanut Town Festival, Oriole Park – North
●   East York Toronto Canada Day, Stan Wadlow Park
●   MPP Canada Day Event - Don Valley West MPP, Flemingdon Park
●   Shomoy Mela, Detonia Park
●   Canada Day Celebrations, Thompson Memorial Park/ Miliken District Park
●   New Country Canada Day Jam, Woodbine Park
●   16th Annual Neighbours Together, Riverdale Park East
●   Canada Day Festival, Kew Gardens
●   Canada Day, Mel Lastman Square

All City-run scheduled events at Nathan Phillips Square, Metro Square, other civic squares and in parks have been cancelled due to the labour disruption. Some large special events that are not organized by the City are going ahead as scheduled.
