TOcore Parks & Public Realm Study: Making Cities for People
Date: October 12, 2016
Location: Health Sciences Bldg, 6th Floor Auditorium, 155 College St, Toronto, ON, M5T 1P8
Toronto’s Downtown is growing. As more growth comes, we need to make sure it’s joined by all the things that will make and keep Downtown liveable for all. TOcore is developing a comprehensive plan for Downtown, and on October 12, we want to share the work we’ve done so far looking at Downtown’s Parks and Public Realm!
We’re looking forward to sharing some of the early results from our Public Life Study, the on-the-ground work we’ve done to study Downtown’s public life, and some of our team’s early thoughts about “core moves” that could help shape Downtown’s public realm for the next 50 years.
In addition to remarks from Parks, Forestry, and Recreation General Manager Janie Romoff and Chief Planner Jennifer Keesmaat, the evening will include lively, engaging presentations from key members of the team that have been working with the City on the Parks and Public Realm Plan, including:
Jeff Risom, Gehl Studio
Jake Tobin Garrett, Park People
Adam Nicklin, Public Work
We’re also looking to hear inspiring ideas from you that will help us as we keep working on the Parks & Public Realm Plan. We’re hoping to hear about great public realm initiatives happening in your neighbourhood, who’s spearheading them, and how TOcore can help catalyze and support these great initiatives.
Starting at 6:00, we’ll be asking people to help us build a map of the great public realm initiatives happening in their neighbourhoods, so please come early! Presentations will begin at 6:30.
We hope you’ll be able to join — please RSVP now!
Please note: this event is being held by City of Toronto Planning staff working on the City’s TOCore project. To find out more about TOCore, visit the city’s dedicated website here.
